Folk artist Marcia Sednek creates one-of-a kind assemblages, created from found objects and vintage tins. She explores a variety of themes such as women’s fashion dresses and purses, unique dolls and flowers.
Marcia lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her son Sullivan. She works with a group of artists from the Off Center Community Arts Project in Albuquerque. The group supports low income artists to help them achieve their goals through creating and selling their art. She finds great joy and inspiration in the search for unusual materials, and sharing “the hunt” process with her son.
Occasions! would like to thank everyone who came out and made our Grand Re-Opening a success and helped raised funds for The Breasthetics Institute (we estimate 200 attended). We would like to also thank Cathy’s Rum Cakes Catering for donating the delicious cakes and hors d’oeuvres and Ambiance Fluer Eclectics for her opulent flowers.
Two fun events this week:
The Green ArtWalk this Thursday will feature found-object work by several artists. Guest artist Marcia Sednek will present her mini metal creations. And we will also be featuring the whimsical wall sculptures of recently deceased Marion Skottmyhre as well as the immensely popular fun jewelry of Kim Mason.
And our Grand Opening is this Friday!

You will be shopping with a purpose that evening; part of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to Breasthetics Institute of America, a non-profit that provides restorative procedures for breast cancer survivors.

Then: Wearable ArtWalk Gallery shows: Babette, Calvin Charles, Colores, Cornelis Hollander Designs, Galina Couture, Gallery Andrea, Naked Horse, Occasions! by Design, Palavela Home, Wilde Meyer Gallery, and Xanadu.

Trolleys will be operating from the Bridge to Marshall and Main Sts.
We will continue featuring Riley Burnett and Ambiance Fleur Eclectics plus serving Champagne all evening.
