The threat of Breast Cancer is prevalent in every community across the country. it is unnecessary to ask who has been affected directly or indirectly with Breast Cancer today because most people would raise their hands and acknowledge knowing someone afflicted, someone who has conquered and survived, and someone who has succumbed to this awful disease.

We are particularly anxious to be part of the Breast Cancer Awareness month this October because Occasions! by design, like so many other individuals and businesses has been personally affected. Occasions! will show its support by donating a portion of all proceeds from the sale of this select group of items which will be donated to Breast Cancer Awareness and Support.

Arthur Secunda's "Meet the Artist" Reception

Arthur Secunda’s “meet the artist” opening reception went off with a bang, Thursday evening! Noted collectors, friends, travelers and the artist community paid homage to his new collection entitled “Another Chapter”.

Champagne, lauphter and overall appreciation for Arthur’s work was enjoyed by all.

Arthur Secunda’s new works are on dispaly only at occasiosn! by deign. Also for your view pleaseure is a well executed DVD showcasing all of his works dating back to 1944.

Arthur Secunda's "Endless Road" - Watercolor

Come and celebrate with us for the weekend exhibition opening for renowned artist Arthur Secunda, from September 23^rd-26^th, entitled “Another Chapter”. The exhibit will feature a series of new paintings of the Colorado landscape where the artist is currently residing. There will be a “meet the artist” reception on Thursday September 23^rd from 6-9pm at occasions! by design.

The exhibition will also include Secunda works spanning five decades of painting and printmaking. From expressionistic paintings, vibrant landscape serigraphs, to a depiction of the 1960’s Los Angeles riot and his recent collection of biblical monotypes, the show is a microcosm of his life.

He is internationally recognized for his talent and creative genius behind the art of printmaking and we are honored to be showcasing Arthur’s iconic and classic works.

Hotel Theodore has let the art in! The Hotel Theodore, in partnership with occasions! by design and the Angelica Gallery in Scottsdale are presenting a nationally acclaimed collection of art work. The collection will be on view for September and October.

Lisa Chernoff "Glass Tower" Fused Glass

Participating occasions! artists including award-winning glass artist Lisa Chernoff and Peter Vanderlaan, from New Mexico. Lisa Chernoff’s highly impressive glasswork explores the three dimensional and textural aspects of the medium and the work is comprised of brilliant color in layered shapes and forms. Chernof’s wall sculptures on display are entitled “Wall Ribbon” and resemble streams of brightly colored ribbons.

Peter Vanderlaan’s Optical glass Series are prismatic sculptures that uniquely reflect and refract light. Their intricate and elaborate designs produce a series of daring examples that push the limits of this amazing fluid glass. The Optical Series sculptures are one-of-a-kind and are produced in highly limited groupings.

Thursday October 14th from 7-9pm Western ArtWalk – the 21st annual Western ArtWalk is set to return Scottsdale to “West’s Most Western Town”. You will find plenty of live country music and cool guitar picking spread across eight blocks of the Scottsdale Arts District, Free restaurant samplings, fun prize giveaways and other special doings can be found along the ArtWalk route.

Thursday October 21st from 7-9pm Taste of Art ArtWalk The Arts District on Main Street and Marshall Way is hosting the Taste of ArtWalk Event where restaurants and chefs bring their menus to life with tantalizing food tidbits and wine. Amazing food and wine samples paired with equally amazing one-of-a-kind art makes for a terrific event every year. Come out and enjoy the Taste of Art ArtWalk.

Thursday November 4th from 7-9pm Wearable ArtWalk Participating galleries will feature one of a-kind jewelry and fiber “art to wear”. Occasions! by design’s folk artist Marcia Sednek showcases her “life size” ball gown hand crafted from vintage tins, wire mesh and found objects replicating her miniature dress series also featured at the gallery.

Thursday December 30th from 7-9pm Fiesta Bowl ArtWalk.This ArtWalk is an artistic preface to the big game at the Fiesta Bowl. Football fans and art lovers stroll the Main Street and MarshallWay art galleries combing their passion for the game and art. Join the fans in the party atmosphere with special artist displays, music and refreshments.
